New Students Guide

So you’ve ended up on the MCR website, but maybe you’re not sure what an MCR is? For an overview, take a look at part one of our upcoming guide to life at St Hugh’s for New Students!


Academic Dress for Matriculation 

Matriculands should wear their Graduate Commoner’s gown, mortar board or soft cap, and sub fusc.
Correct sub fusc is:

  1. One of:
    a. Dark suit with dark socks, or
    b. Dark skirt with black tights or stockings, or
    c. Dark trousers with dark socks
    2. Dark coat if required
    3. Black shoes
    4. Plain white collared shirt or blouse
    5. White bow tie or black ribbon
